Funding is available for Personal Safety Australia services through government and corporate grants.
A range of grant opportunities are outlined below. A number of useful websites regarding grants and further suggestions to access grants are also provided.

Funding areas include:

a) Skills and independence: give people the skills to manage their lives and provide them with independence; and

b) Local initiatives: innovative projects from local community organisations.

To improve and develop services in Brisbane including to:

  • Encourage physical activity;
  • Respond to local and city wide community issues;and
  • Develop the capacity of local groups to deliver services.

Funding available:

Two categories:

a) $2000 – 10000; and

b) $10001 - 50000

Further suggestions to access grants:

  • Make a list of the following groups, search their website for grant opportunities and/or follow up with the appropriate contact person:
    • All of the Government bodies you deal with or that deal in your area of interest/expertise.
    • Any foundations that you know specialise in your area of expertise.
    • Agencies or bodies that aim at dealing with the problems or issues that fall into your area of expertise.
    • Non-profit organisations that have a common interest and find out any external grants they have gained - either by studying their annual reports or by talking to them.
  • Talk with groups you already have contact with, and who might be able to help.
  • Talk to your local council's community grants or community development officer - both for grants they might offer, or for other groups that might have grants.
  • Talk to your State or Federal MP about government grants programs.
  • Attend any seminars or talks from grant makers or experienced grant seekers.
